The Queen's weekend residence has been a Royal Castle since the predecessor of the Round Tower was built by William the Conqueror in the 11th Century. Windsor Castle has been changed and added to over the last 900 years. We have a guide tour of the Castle Precincts and see the State Apartments (when available) that have now been rebuilt after the recent fire damage. Here we see an excellent example of gothic perpendicular architecture complimented by the fine vaulted ceiling of the Chapel of St George. It is here that we see the tombs of King Henry VIII and Charles I. We drive past Runnymede where King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215. We see the John F. Kennedy Memorial which stands on American soil given to the USA by Queen Elisabeth II in 1964. Price p.p £26.50 Book now Pages, content and code © 2005 London Millennium Tours ltd.
